DIRECTOR OF WELLNESS – Cedar Crossing Retirement Community

Candidates are invited to apply for the Full Time Director of Wellness position at Cedar Crossing Retirement Community, a retirement community, located in Simcoe, Ontario.  The Director of Wellness will oversee the clinical activities within the community designed to promote the well being of our residents.

You will be knowledgeable regarding charting and reports, outbreak protocols and hiring and management of clinical staff.

As a The Director of Wellness your typical day will involve the following;

  • Overseeing the clinical activities within the community designed to promote the wellbeing of our residents.
  • Collaborate with physicians, other health care professionals and family members to ensure resident needs are assessed; plan of care developed and determine corresponding care fees and team member requirements as applicable
  • Monitoring all resident incidents and ensuring reoccurrence is prevented by continuously evaluating resident needs and adjusting plan of care accordingly
  • Monitoring quality of resident care provided by nursing and related service providers is top quality and consistent with resident needs
  • Responsible for hiring, selection, orientation, development, management and performance of clinical staff (RPNs, RNs, Resident Attendant’s, Uncertified Care Provider’s etc)
  • Responsible for ensuring all staff and residents are following outbreak protocols
  • Developing professional and collaborative relationships with hospital team members and interviewing prospective residents and conducting assessments to determine suitability for admission.
  • Participating in the preparation of the department budget and administering the approved budget within established parameters.

To match our Qualifications, you will possess

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a licensed LPN/RPN or RN. BScN is preferred
  • Registered and in good standing with the provincial regulatory body i.e. CNO
  • Experience with senior’s population including knowledge of dementia (are there any other areas that they would need to have knowledge about ex Alzheimer’s/ Assisted Living etc)
  • Must be knowledgeable in reading and understanding charting and reports
  • Current Food handlers’ course is an asset
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • Knowledgeable of applicable legislation and policies including RHRA, Infection Control and government contract requirements i.e. LHIN
  • Available to work shifts that will include days, evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Clear immunization records including recent TB testing
  • Clear criminal background check including Vulnerable Sector
  • Provide proof of Covid 19 Vaccination
