When reminiscing about winter activities Mary Wyn had one story that came to mind. Skating was one of her favourite pastimes and she was always out on the frozen pond or a rink. Mary Wyn can remember one school day her mother told her to go in her room and close the door until her father (who was a mounted police) left for work. When he left, she would come out of her room and her mother would excuse her from school that day and they would go skating together. Little did Mary Wyn know that her father actually saw her from a distance while they were out at the pond skating. Later that evening when her father returned from work he asked Mary Wyn how her day was at school even though he knew she was actually out skating. She had no idea that he knew, so she played it off like she went to school and told him she had a good day.
