A Walk to Bethlehem

For 17 years our Christmas celebrations have started with “Bethlehem Walk” a volunteer community event in the village of Cold Springs where the journey of Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem is re-created. Over 900 visitors are welcomed by Roman Soldiers at the entrance of the community hall, greeters greet inside the hall where they meet a guide to lead them on the walk to Bethlehem. Groups of visitors are met by Roman Soldiers, an angel, three kings who then visit the market place.

Angel Gabriel announces  ‘Jesus’ birth is near’. The Innkeeper directs travelers to the stable where Baby Jesus lies in a manger and is watched over by Mary and Joseph, angels and live animals. At the end of the walk, visitors enjoy wagon hay rides back to the hall where hot drinks and cookies are served.
